Memphis Americans hosts Rome in second match
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. – The Memphis Americans men’s and women’s teams host the Rome Gladiators of Rome, Georgia, for the second match of the season on Thursday, Dec. 30 at Landers Center in Southaven, Mississippi. Kickoff for the doubleheader is set for 5:00 p.m.
During the first match on Dec. 26, the men’s team defeated the Columbus Rapids 6-0, and the women’s team took home the victory with a 10-2 win. The men notched goals from six players, with Djordje Djordjevic scoring three times. Goals were consistent throughout the match, with two occurring in the first period, one in the second, two in the third and one in the fourth. After being tied in the second period, the women’s team broke away in the second half of the match. The win was a true team effort with seven players securing goals. Ashlynn Jones and Bruna Leiria led the team in scoring with three goals each.
The Rome Gladiators men’s team is led by Joao Garcia, while the women’s team is coached by Gabriel Saroli. Both teams are made up of talented players hailing from across the country. The match against the Memphis Americans will be the first played by both Rome Gladiators teams.
Individual match tickets for the Memphis Americans inaugural season are available for purchase at www.memphisamericans.com. Each ticket grants entry to both the men’s and women’s matches. Season tickets start at $180 and are currently available on the team’s website, as well. Season ticket holders have access to all men’s and women’s matches, enjoy postseason and off-season priority access, can attend a meet and greet with the team, and receive a special inaugural season scarf.
