SOUTHAVEN, Miss.– The Memphis Americans are back home at Landers Center in Southaven, Mississippi, to face the Columbus Rapids. The men’s and women’s matches are set for Saturday, Jan. 22. Kickoff for the first match is at 3:30 p.m. CST.
Winter weather caused the cancellation of action slated for Jan. 16, so the team’s most recent matches were held Jan. 8. During the Jan. 8 matchups, the men’s and women’s teams secured big overtime wins over the Columbus Rapids. The men won 5-4 and the women won 3-2. The victories help the men remain undefeated with a record of 4-0, and bring the women’s record to 3-1. Per National Indoor Soccer League rules, Memphis American’s coach Corey Adamson will serve a one-game suspension on Jan. 22 after being ejected from the women’s team’s match. The suspension will not impact his ability to play and coach during the men’s match.
The Columbus Rapids most recently faced the Rome Gladiators on Jan. 17. The men won 3-2, while the women fell 4-2. Going into Saturday’s match at Landers Center, both Rapids teams are looking to secure their second wins of the season. Saturday’s contests will mark the fourth meeting between the two organizations.
