Memphis Americans Sign Leiria, Boggus
Memphis, TN - The Memphis Americans have re-signed Brazilian forward, Bruna Leiria and defender Jonathan Boggus for the upcoming 2022/2023 season.
Leiria, who scored the inaugural goal in the first ever National Indoor Soccer league Women’s pro history, tallied 8 goals and 4 assists for the Americans last season. “Bru brings so much to the team both technically and physically. She’s a maniac when pressing to win the ball, and has absolute class with the ball at her feet,” Head Coach Corey Adamson said of Leiria.
Boggus, a Hernando native, scored the opening goal in the NISL Pro Final against the Fayetteville Fury. “Boggus brings a level of physicality, grit, and emotional leadership to the team that very few can match,“ Says Adamson. “He made huge plays for us all year when we needed them most on the offensive side of the ball, and an intimidation factor to our defense, with the ability to mark up against the opposing team’s biggest players.”
The Memphis Americans will be back this winter for their second season in the NISL, and another Championship run! For tickets and more information, visit https://www.memphisamericans.com/season-tickets
