Memphis Americans travel east to face Fayetteville Fury
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. – The Memphis Americans men’s and women’s teams travel to Fayetteville, North Carolina, to face the Fury on Saturday, Feb. 5. Kickoff for the first match is at 2:30 p.m. CST at Crown Complex.
During the Jan. 22 matchups against the Columbus Rapids, the men’s and women’s teams both secured wins. The men won 6-3 and the women won 7-3. The victories help the men remain undefeated, and improve the women’s record to 4-1. Five players from the men’s team scored during the match, with Djordje Djordjevic scoring twice. The women’s team had strong momentum throughout the entire contest, scoring in each period. The win was a massive team effort with six players securing a goal. Goalkeeper Angel Hailey had another impressive match on the defensive front, shutting out the Rapids for two periods, and saving 6-out-of-8 goals attempted.
The Fayetteville Fury most recently faced the Rome Gladiators on Jan. 23. The men won 7-5, while the women fell 2-8. Going into Saturday’s match at Crown Complex, the men’s squad looks to continue their win streak and the women’s squad hopes to right the ship.
